During our 2024 Malaysia road trip, my family and I made a stop in Port Dickson (often called PD) while traveling from Selangor to Melaka. PD is a family-friendly destination with several interesting attractions. Let’s dive into a few of the places we visited
Sky Ladder Pineapple Farm
Visitors to PD, especially those with children, shouldn’t miss the pineapple farm—a delightful part of agro-tourism. The adult entry ticket costs RM 18, while the child ticket is RM 15. Initially, we thought the child ticket was steep, but after completing the farm tour, we realized it was worthwhile. Each person receives a bottle of pineapple juice made right on the farm.
The farm tour mainly consists of
The farm tour covers several fascinating aspects:
- Pineapple Farming History: Learn about the origins and development of pineapple farming.
- Malaysia’s Official Pineapple Varieties: Explore the different pineapple varieties officially registered in Malaysia.
- Products from the Whole Pineapple Plant: Discover the various products that can be made using not only the fruit but also other parts of the pineapple plant.
- Rarely Seen Plants: Get acquainted with plant species rarely found in Malaysia.
- BSF (Black Soldier Fly) Life Cycle: Understand the life cycle of these beneficial insects.
One highlight was learning about zero waste practices—how the entire pineapple plant, including leaves, contributes to sustainable processes. The staff demonstrated how they extract fiber threads from pineapple leaves for textile processing.
Army Museum ( Muzium Tentera )
Army museum is an interesting place to see the different kind of army equipment like the tanks, guns, army vehicles, communication devices etc. We explored this different military equipment from close.
Admission to the museum is free, and there is ample parking available for museum visitors cars. Registration is straightforward and requires either your IC or passport.
Whether you’re planning a day or two days trip to PD, these attractions are worth to exploring.
